VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Vancouver police have arrested a 26-year-old man after a security guard was stabbed in the West End Sunday morning.
In a statement, Vancouver Police Department says it responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls just before 10 a.m., after a security guard was stabbed multiple times while trying to detain a shoplifter.
The incident occurred at a Shoppers Drug Mart located on Davie and Thurlow Streets.

VPD say officers administered first aid to the victim until he were transported to hospital.
“Dozens of VPD officers worked throughout the day to identify and locate the suspect, and thankfully he was arrested without incident last night,” Sgt. Steve Addison says. “The victim has serious injuries, but we hope he will make a full recovery.”
The suspect was able to get away after the incident, however the VPD say the were able to trace him back to a building in the Downtown East Side. The suspect is now facing weapons and assault charges.
